Meet The Maker

Hello I'm Imogen, founder of Scorpio Rising. I do everything from designing and carefully hand making each item to handling customer enquiries and personally posting out all your cherished treasures.

I began selling vintage clothing as a teenager, officially starting my first business, Velvet Cave in 2009, which slowly transitioned into Scorpio Rising when I began focussing more on my own handmade designs. Initially I had help from my Nan, who worked in clothing factories and my Grandma, who was a theatre costume designer and maker, so I've got these two inspirational women to thank. Naturally I couldn't exactly keep a couple of OAPs slaving away though so, as it's just me these days and hand making is a very slow process, we currently only take limited handmade orders. That may change at some point but in all honesty, as an introvert, I must admit I enjoy the solitude of working alone and besides, I believe being in limited supply makes the pieces even more special.

Being petite I've always found it hard to find clothes that fit properly so Scorpio Rising was born out of a desire to offer unique, customisable designs that are perfectly tailored to fit each client. With so much emphasis on fast fashion these days, I wanted to offer a sustainable and environmentally conscious alternative, using recycled and recyclable packaging and supplies wherever possible.

As well as handmade clothing, we offer curated collections of rare vintage pieces, many of which are from my own personal wardrobe and have inspired our own designs and, to finish off your outfit, we have a collection of magical handmade chokers which can also be customised to your requirements.

Inspired by my love of vintage horror movies, music and fashion, with our namesake taken directly from a 1960s film, our designs are revered by many musicians and performers alike. I am also genuinely a Scorpio Rising in astrology (Cancer Sun/Capricorn Moon) and our pieces are for anyone looking to embody the powerful, dark and mysterious allure of the sign.
